Admission Requirements for New Nursing Students

• Complete high school or college level Algebra, Chemistry with a lab and Biology with a lab with a grade of C or better.
• Complete a Nursing application.
• Upload the required essay.
• Have official transcripts from high school and all colleges attended sent directly to the admissions office.
• Meet all general college admissions requirements.
• Complete the ATI Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS)* with a Total Score of 66% or higher.
• Early application deadline is December 15.
• Regular application deadline is February 1.听

Points will be awarded for the following:

• Tiered points for completion of the required science courses and English Composition before the admission deadline
• Tiered points for TEAS score
• Tiered points for GPA starting at 2.5
• Tiered points for Essay score
• Current Certification or licensure as an LNA/MA/LPN/EMT/Paramedic (Submission of a copy of a current license and/or certification is required)
• Current or Former military medic or corpsman (Submission of a DD form 214 or transcript is required)

While not required, recent experience working in a healthcare field is recommended.

TEAS

• The TEAS may be taken four times in one year starting with the date of the first exam.
• Each attempt must be at least four weeks apart.
• TEAS scores are valid for two years.
• Registration and payment for the TEAS is done at atitesting.com.
• The TEAS exam is offered at multiple locations including 51福利社.
• The TEAS exam is to be taken in person only. Exam sites include on-campus using institution-controlled computers or on-site at a PSI Testing Center. No results from a remote testing site will be accepted.
• Official transcripts of TEAS scores must be sent directly to 51福利社 admissions by ATI. TEAS transcripts may take up to 4 business days for ATI to finalize after the testing date. Test scores must be received by 11:59PM on 2/1 in order to be considered in your application. Preliminary scores, screen shots of results, and/or student uploads of scores will not be accepted.

Nursing Essay Directions

Address items 1 and 2 using a narrative format.

1. Nurses often have to advocate for patients who cannot speak for themselves. Describe an example in your life when you acted as an advocate for someone else. Explain what you have learned from that experience.
2. Describe a challenge you have faced in your academic or personal life. How did you overcome it?听 Explain how that experience will help you in nursing school?
